How To Know If You're Ready For A Yoga Teacher Training Course

A yoga teacher training course is a great way to deepen your understanding of yoga, deepen your practice and also your connection with others.

However, as with anything, it is important to make sure you are ready for this jump, as this will ensure you get the absolute most from the yoga teacher training course.

At Breeze Yoga, we offer a range of teacher training courses. We have also talked to a whole host of budding teachers throughout our time. We have put together this article, to help you decide if you are ready to start on this amazing journey.

1. Do You Practise Regularly?

Yoga teacher training is a lot of work, both physically and mentally. It is really important to have a strong foundation in yoga before you start the course. We aren’t expecting you to know every asana out there, but you should be fairly experienced yogi. If you have any concerns about your experience level you can talk to one of our yoga teachers who will be able to advise you.

2. Are You Ready To Invest?

Yoga teacher training courses are an investment, both financially and time-wise. Usually, a yoga teacher training course is 200 hours long, and you are expected to be there for every one of those hours.

On top of the time, the courses can be fairly expensive, so you need to be really sure that this is a future you want to pursue before you go ahead and book yourself a space on a course.

3. Are You Interested In Anatomy And Philosophy?

A yoga teacher training course isn’t just about downward dog and sun salutations. There is also an amount of homework involved. You will be taught about the history and philosophy of yoga, as well as body anatomy which will help you learn more about the benefits of yoga and how to help students who are limited by any health issues. The course is just as much about the practical as it is about the theoretical, so you need to enjoy both!

4. Are You Ready To Teach?

At the end of the day, this is a teaching course, so being willing to teach a class is really the most important aspect. If you are not interested in teaching and helping students deepen their practice, then a yoga teacher training course probably isn’t for you!
