Indian Head Massage

MANDALA watermark.jpg

Indian Head Massage is a simple yet effective therapy that uses a variety of techniques to manipulate soft tissue. It is performed with the client in a seated position and without the use of oils. The therapist uses a range of different massage pressures and rhythms to stimulate the head, neck, upper back and shoulder area.

Regular Indian head massages alleviate feelings of tension and increase blood supply to the head, which can improve mental clarity and alertness.

Some of our aromatherapy massage therapists will use pre-blended oils, choosing between ‘purify & revive’, ‘muscle ease’ or ‘calmer karma’. Other massage therapists may blend the oils during your consultation, using a combination designed specifically for you.

What to Expect From an Indian Head Massage

You, the client, will be fully clothed, sitting on a chair throughout the duration of the Indian head massage.

The massage therapist will use a range of different movements including the application of deep kneading and cmpression movements over the head, neck and shoulder area. The therapist may also stimulate pressure points on the face, to release tension. An Indian head massage usually lasts between 20-45 minutes.

Indian head massage can produce a range of beneficial effects, including:

  • Reduced stress/anxiety

  • Feelings of wellbeing

  • Feelings of reassurance

  • Relaxation

  • A sense of calm and tranquillity
