Sunday 10th February 2:30-4:30pm in the traditional room
Lotus is an iconic yoga posture usually associated with seated meditation, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. In fact in order to meditate, you don't have to be able to do lotus at all, and you can do lots of other things with a lotus that don't involve sitting still!
Building heat in the body through the practice of vinyasa krama (combining breath and movement in a sequence of poses), this workshop will focus on hip opening postures: not only the ones necessary to prepare the body for lotus pose, but on the strength and flexibility of the whole hip joint. At the same time, by refining concentration and awareness, we will work on the possible ways of lifting the lotus (or just your lotus-less self if you can't do lotus) off the floor into arm balances and inversions.
This is an all-level workshop: the ability to practise lotus pose is definitely not a requirement – different alternatives and options will be given so that everybody will have something to work on.
