Opening Heart & Spine with Backbends with Hassan Intac

Backbends can be intimidating and bring up fear because they ask us to move our bodies in a way we do not normally. However, a good backbend not only looks beautiful but feels amazing. They are an important part of a well-rounded yoga practice and there are many benefits of practicing backbends. They tone, lengthen and increase blood flow around the spine and diaphragm.
There are many big backbends in the encyclopedia of yoga postures. However, there is not always time to explore our range or allow for deeper releases. Through a slow and steady flow, we will move beyond the familiar and prepare for backbends bigger than the ones we usually practice.
A progressive sequence with supported and active back extensions will help you isolate different parts of the spine, shoulders and psoas. This will strengthen and elongate the front of the body.
The workshop will include proper techniques for your body type and how to work with poses/drills like standing backbends, camel, wall walks, drop backs and wheel, whilst staying mindful of the neck and hips.
