Mandala Vinyasa Journey Through The Elements #4: Air

Saturday 6th January 3-5pm with Jonelle Lewis

Following the Mayan calendar we will connect with the element of Air and the practice will focus on opening the heart and connecting to love and compassion. We will also use this practice to set intentions coming directly from our hearts as we start the New Year.

We will use techniques from the tantric, shamanic and traditional chinese medicine paths to cultivate liberation of the spine and shoulders.  Starting with kriyas, pranayama and meditation to open the body and focus our attention to Anahata chakra, the heart chakra. We will then use Qi Gong and Yin yoga to open the body up subtly and work the heart and lung meridian systems. To finish we will practice a Mandala Flow moving 360 degrees around the mat and continue with  heart and shoulder openers, backbends, arm balances and inversions.

The intention behind this workshop is to cultivate more love and compassion for ourselves and others by doing practices to strengthen the heart.

Workshop 2:  Breath Yoga – Purification (Burning out the Outdated and Unwanted)

Friday 19th January 7.30-9.00pm

This workshop will focus on purifying the mind and body through ancient Yogic breathing techniques.  Changing our base emotions to higher ones was the work of Alchemists, Seers, Yogis and Shamans for centuries before.  Using these techniques, you will have the opportunity to move through old layers that no longer serve you, burning off outdated, redundant physical and emotional patterns.

Workshop 3:  Breath Yoga - Rebirthing (Holotropic Breathing)

Friday 2nd February 7.30-9.00pm

In this final workshop you will revisit the rigors of your own birth through the dynamic of Holotripic Breathing.  Birth is one of our most powerful life events, yet any associated trauma can be long lasting as we live with that underlying seismic echo throughout our lives, which can impact our emotional and physical health.  Holotropic Breath (re-birthing breath) revisits that eventful birth and overlays it synergistically and consciously.   Guided into this deeply healing space, Mark will facilitate this “one time” healing breath experience which could change your life forever.

Breath Yoga is as powerful as you want it to be – change on a cellular level is possible – all you have to do is want it!

These workshops are open to all levels of experience.  It is not necessary to attend all three workshops, however we strongly recommend this to ensure optimum experience and benefits.

In order to benefit fully we recommend you do not eat for at least 3 hours before the workshop.

Vanessa Abreu and Gerrard Martin are professional dancers. Gerrard is an accomplished yoga teacher and Vanessa has a depth of knowledge, insight and passion in nutrition and well being. 

Vanessa and Gerrard bring to you this unique workshop, which combines their respective skills, passion, energy and knowledge to deliver this life affirming Vinyasa practice, whilst encouraging a mindful and holistic approach to postures.  Elements of Vanessa and Gerrard’s dance background will be drawn upon to further enhance this unique experience.  Particular focus will be paid to the breath, correct alignment and movement from the core.  

The workshop will conclude with a sharing of insight into healthy eating choices to nurture the body as a whole.   Expect to feel supported and energized with renewed insights to encourage overall health and well being.

Join Yog Sundari, Julia Anastasiou, the first Super Trainer in the Danielle Collins Face Yoga method, for a rejuvenating and pampering afternoon.

You will experience and learn The Danielle Collins Face Yoga Method which is a natural way of looking and feeling younger and healthier with an added sense of relaxation and wellbeing. It is a combination of face exercises, face massage, face acupressure and face relaxation. It also focuses on wellbeing techniques for the mind, body and soul.

The workshop will include:

  • Face Exercise: just as your body needs regular exercise to stay toned and firm, the 57 muscles in the face and neck also need to be exercised. As they become stronger through exercise they are lifted and firmed and the skin attached to the muscles is also lifted and tautened, therefore reducing lines and wrinkles. As the muscles are much smaller than those in the body, it takes a lot less time for them to increase in strength and tone.
     
  • Face Massage: by regularly massaging the face using the techniques from The Danielle Collins Face Yoga Method, you will increase the circulation, lymph flow and remove toxins. This will reduce poor skin tone, puffiness and dark circles and allow the skin to look healthier and more youthful. The massage techniques will also increase the collagen and elastin, the natural plumping agents which will mean a firmer and healthier complexion.
     
  • Acupressure: this age-old technique works by pressing on certain points on the face. This can increase the flow of the subtle energy or prana in the face. This therefore reduces tension, increases circulation and gives a healthy glow to the skin.
     
  • Relaxation: by learning to relax tension in the face this will help to reduce and prevent the deep sets lines and wrinkles caused by stress, squinting or grimacing. The Danielle Collins Face Yoga Method allows you to relax the face correctly giving it a more open, youthful look.

The workshop mostly focuses on the face and wellbeing so is therefore suitable for all levels.
