Vinyasa open-level, meditation, psychology, neuroscience and discussion.

Join Salema to explore and reflect on the science and practice of yoga through Eastern psychology and Western science.

In Eastern psychology, specific yoga poses are said to represent certain psychology and philosophy. For example, forward bends are said to represent the past whilst back bends represent the future. Sometimes in forward bending we can be confronted with difficult or painful memories and emotions. However, in order to move forward we first have to accept and process the past by bringing it into the present before we can truly move forward.

Learn about the associated brain areas that are responsible for the mechanisms of attention regulation, body awareness, emotional regulation and change in perspective of the self. You will move through a sequence focusing on forward and back bends with longer holds to challenge the brain, mind and ego.

Salema has been teaching yoga and meditation for 15 years around the globe. A Senior Teacher and Teacher Trainer with the Yoga Alliance she is based at the Tri Yoga Centres in London and Cam Yoga in Cambridge. Salema studied Coaching and Psychology at the University of Cambridge and is now completing her second undergraduate in Cognitive Psychology and Science. She presents at various conferences including The Yoga Show and Mind Body Spirit Festival. Salema has just released her first DVD Vinyasa Yoga and Positive Psychology on amazon.com.

The benefits of practicing yoga for children are many fold, including giving children the opportunity to build strength to support the skeletal system as they develop and grow.  Yoga practice also improves attention span and concentration levels, enabling restful sleep patterns, whilst bringing about a sense of calm and confidence as children cope with the many challenges associated with their physical and emotional development.

The initial challenge for some parents/carers however, is getting their child to try a class in the first place! With this in mind, we have created an opportunity for you to come along and enjoy a class together, so that both you and your child will experience and explore the magic of yoga together.

You and your child will bring traditional yoga poses alive through creative games, as well as learning how to link poses together, providing you with fun and interactive ideas for light hearted practice together at home too!

This is a chance for you to connect together and experience the wonderful benefits of yoga, helping to instil in your child vital skills to cope with life in a healthy, happy, calm and vibrant way – it’s never too early to start!

Flyer's Flow is an arm balancing sequence designed to teach participants how to perform arm balances with greater mindfulness and ease. Students often over-use force when working on these poses, rather than developing the functional strength, understanding of the necessary movement patterns and leverage required to effectively take flight. This sequence will help to develop the biomechanical and psychomotor functions necessary to more deeply and gracefully incorporate these inspiring poses into your practice.

Backbends can be intimidating and bring up fear because they ask us to move our bodies in a way we do not normally. However, a good backbend not only looks beautiful but feels amazing. They are an important part of a well-rounded yoga practice and there are many benefits of practicing backbends. They tone, lengthen and increase blood flow around the spine and diaphragm.

There are many big backbends in the encyclopedia of yoga postures. However, there is not always time to explore our range or allow for deeper releases. Through a slow and steady flow, we will move beyond the familiar and prepare for backbends bigger than the ones we usually practice.

A progressive sequence with supported and active back extensions will help you isolate different parts of the spine, shoulders and psoas. This will strengthen and elongate the front of the body.

The workshop will include proper techniques for your body type and how to work with poses/drills like standing backbends, camel, wall walks, drop backs and wheel, whilst staying mindful of the neck and hips.

Suitable for all levels.

When we share sacred space in the sisterhood circle our intentions are magnified as we connect to a web of unified support not just for our circle but for women everywhere.

The Shakti Sisterhood Circle (started by Anna Lempriere in 2010) will take place at Breeze monthly – enabling women of all ages and creeds to beenergized and uplifted in a likeminded spiritual community.  We encourage you to the time out to invest in yourself, experience new awareness and reconnect.
