We are thrilled to welcome teacher Carline Deal to Breeze to lead our fantastic new monthly Family Yoga Playshops at Breeze.   Carline’s aim is to promote health, wellbeing, calm and confidence to children and teens, whilst setting down the foundations for a vibrant, balanced, positive and healthy life ahead. 

As adults we often forget, being a kid can be stressful!  There are many pressures to achieve, behave, conform and “fit in”.  Studies show that regular yoga practice improves attention span, aids restful sleep and builds strength to support the skeletal system as children grow and develop. Practicing and developing a love of yoga is known to instil a sense of equilibrium and contentment in all ages, and there can only be benefits in starting early!

As an accomplished yoga teacher and mother of 4 children ranging from age of 5 right through to 19, Carline has great insight and understanding of the stages of development physically and emotionally, with an ability to engage, bringing great benefits for parents and children through yoga practice.

Join Carline for these family sessions and experience the joy you and your child can have whilst actively engaging in an activity that is as fun as it is nurturing, on many levels.

No experience of yoga is necessary in either adult or child, simply a willingness to have fun and enjoy the journey!

Diane Barr is back – catch her while she’s in town!

Many of you will know the lovely Diane Barr, who taught with us from the day we first opened here at Breeze and inspired thousands of students on their yoga journey during her time with us.  Diane returned to her native Canada last year – our loss and Vancouver Island’s gain for sure!  We’ve missed Diane terribly and are so excited that she’s popping back over and will be treating us to a master class and two great workshops while she’s in town.  Diane has a unique ability to make each student feel as important as the next – she is as encouraging as she is inspirational.  Do book in early as these will be super popular… 

 

Fun Flow Master class - Saturday 28th October 1-3pm

A fun, light hearted, vinyasa flow class which will include a little bit of everything that our yogi’s love. The class will include twisting, balancing, going upside down, bending forwards, backwards and sideways. The focus will be on breath and alignment as well as using this  yoga practice to feel great in our bodies and brighten up our lives. All are welcome including beginners.

Yoga for Navigating Change - Sunday 29th October 2.30-4.30pm

Our lives are in a constant state of change, from smaller shifts to bigger life changes that can feel like they turn our whole world upside down, sometimes leaving us feeling off centre/off balance. In this workshop we will look at ways that our yoga practice can help support us through the life changes that we go through “off the mat”. We will practice breathing techniques plus meditation and asana with the intention of finding ways to thrive and grow through challenging times –learning to embrace change instead of resisting. This is a positive and uplifting workshop.  All are welcome including beginners.

Yoga for the Pelvic Floor (Women Only) - Sunday 5th November 2.30-4.30pm

A workshop to help women to become more aware of how their pelvic floor works and in turn, learn vital techniques to enable it to function more effectively. Many women suffer unnecessarily from incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti, low back pain and more.  You will learn breathing techniques and asana to help to strengthen as well as relax the pelvic floor, both of which encourage optimal functioning. In addition to working specifically with the pelvic floor, you will learn yoga poses that will help to strengthen and open areas of the body that are essential to supporting it. This workshop is open to women of all ages.  All are welcome including beginners.

Following Puneet’s sell out Chakra Meditation workshop at Breeze in September, he returns to present this insightful and inspirational workshop in which you will learn the unique effectiveness and power of Mantra Meditation.

You will learn the meaning of meditation and cover topics such as:

  • How to enter into a tranquil state of mind consistently
  • What Mantras are and the science behind them
  • How to chant the mantras correctly to increase their effectiveness

Mandala Vinyasa Journey Through the Elements #2: Water

Saturday 18th November 3-5pm with Jonelle Lewis

Following the Mayan calendar we will connect with the element of water and the practice will focus on the hips and the art of letting go.

We will use techniques from the tantric, shamanic and traditional chinese medicine paths to cultivate liberation in the hips.  Starting with kriya, pranayama & meditation to open the body and focus our attention to Svadisthana chakra, the sacral chakra. We will then use Qi Gong and Yin yoga to open the body up subtly and work the liver and gallbladder meridian systems. To finish we will practice a Mandala Flow moving 360 degrees around the mat and continue with hip openers, arm balances and inversions.

The intention of this workshop is to learn to flow, let go and connect to our emotions as a path to creativity and balance.

Mandala Vinyasa Journey Through The Elements #3 – Fire

Saturday 2nd December 3-5pm with Katarina Rayburn

Based on the element specific to this particular date in the Mayan calendar, join me on a Mandala Vinyasa journey through Fire. 

Moving 360 degrees around our mats, focusing on twisting, stretching the flanks and working with inversions and arm balances; igniting the Agni (internal fire) in our body, strengthening our core and activating Manipura chakra, our source of willpower and transformation. 

This 2 hour session will start and end with yin yoga to compliment the subtle and physical body that we will be working on the day.  Open to all levels.

Mandala Vinyasa Journey Through The Elements #4: Air

Saturday 6th January 3-5pm with Jonelle Lewis

Following the Mayan calendar we will connect with the element of Air and the practice will focus on opening the heart and connecting to love and compassion. We will also use this practice to set intentions coming directly from our hearts as we start the New Year.

We will use techniques from the tantric, shamanic and traditional chinese medicine paths to cultivate liberation of the spine and shoulders.  Starting with kriyas, pranayama and meditation to open the body and focus our attention to Anahata chakra, the heart chakra. We will then use Qi Gong and Yin yoga to open the body up subtly and work the heart and lung meridian systems. To finish we will practice a Mandala Flow moving 360 degrees around the mat and continue with  heart and shoulder openers, backbends, arm balances and inversions.

The intention behind this workshop is to cultivate more love and compassion for ourselves and others by doing practices to strengthen the heart.

Float: Finding Strength and Grace in your Arm Balances
Saturday 25th November 1-3pm (traditional studio)

Learn how the combination of increased flexibility and conscious core strength will not only enable you to move on your mat with mindful grace, but also pave the way towards mastering a variety of arm balances such as crow, flying pigeon, firefly, and koundinyasana b.  In this workshop, we will tackle exercises and shapes that serve to lengthen and strengthen the muscles required to successfully find your center (on your hands, of course), while maintaining the lightness and humour necessary to create a safe learning environment.  This is for students who are fairly comfortable with arm balancing, we will also introduce a variety of fun and challenging ways to transition from one arm balance to the next.  Thus, whether you’ve been hanging out on your mat for several years or just a few months, this workshop will help you take your practice to the next level.

Learn how conscious muscular engagement will not only enable you to move on your mat with grace and fluidity, but also pave the way towards mastering the more challenging inversions such as forearm stand and handstand.  In this workshop, we will soothe the central nervous system through pranayama, then tackle exercises and shapes that serve to lengthen and strengthen the muscles required to invert successfully, all while maintaining the lightness and humor necessary to create a safe learning environment.  Whether or not you have a solid inversion practice, this workshop will help you take it to the next level.
