Align & Flow Yoga

Suitable for all levels: Flowing sequences centred around the Anusara universal principles of alignment. Students will learn the biomechanics behind body alignment and how to reach their fullest expressions in poses. The class incorporates intention setting, pranayama (breathwork) and meditation.

Ashtanga Yoga

Suitable for all levels: The dynamic method of Ashtanga Yoga is derived from the teachings of K. Pattabhi Jois, founder of the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in India. The class is based on the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga, called ‘Yoga Chikitsa’, which means yoga therapy; a time-tested sequence of asanas practiced with focused breathing techniques, designed specifically to align the body and strengthen the nervous system.

Qigong

Through postures, breathing techniques and mental focus, Qigong creates an awareness of and influences dimensions of our being. It involves working with the meridian system and increasing the flow of Qi around the body, leading to cleansing and healing.  The gentle, rhythmic movements of Qigong reduce stress, build stamina and enhance the immune system. It has also been found to improve cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic and digestive functions. One of the most important long-term effects is that Qigong re-establishes the body/mind/soul connection.

Yin & Meditation Yoga

Suitable for all levels: Yoga, as practiced in the West, is almost exclusively Yang, or muscular in nature. The Yin aspect of Yoga (using postures that stretch connective tissue) is vital for a balanced approach to physical and mental wellbeing. Modern meridian theories state that there are currents flowing through the connective tissues of the body and therefore Yin Yoga is designed to specifically address these tissues.
