TONI DICKS

7 years ago Toni started practising Thai and Yin Yoga and fell in love immediately with both the feeling and the results. It was the only activity, since many years of dancing, that completely captured her mind, body and heart. In early adulthood, Toni’s natural passion, drive and enthusiasm had been solely dedicated to a fast paced and demanding career in the corporate world. This started to take it’s toll physically and mentally at just 30 years of age. Finding Yoga was the single best thing that happened to changing Toni’s life path …. it was a tool that she could use to bring clarity, wholeness and stillness to the ever changing environment that is today’s hectic world.

Toni has successfully completed the Thai Yoga Teacher Training (2009) and following her move away from the corporate world, her journey has continued into Teacher Training with Sarah Powers for Insight Yoga… and beyond!

Toni maintains that simply being able to pass forward all that those have shared with her in her Yoga journey, and all that she has experienced, is in truth what she loves most about teaching.

MINICA BEASON

Minica Beason

Minica found yoga through dance training as a way to maintain her physical and mental wellbeing in a demanding industry. She has performed at the London Olympic Opening Ceremony and danced for Katy B and Jessie J.

After travelling to India to complete her teacher training in 2013, Minica realised yoga was the route she wanted to take. She connected to it from a deeper space within her that she didn’t even know existed! 

Noticing the similarities between the challenges of life and what happens on a yoga mat, Minica tries to teach and practise with an open and sincere heart. Breathing, alignment, compassion to the body and integrity are her focus.

Salema brings a wealth of experience to her work as a Yoga Teacher, Movement Psychologist, Neurobehavioral Coach, speaker, writer and co-host of a monthly radio show, Master Fear Illuminate Life. Teaching for over a decade globally, she draws on her training and study with some of the most well respected pioneers of self-development over the last two decades on and off the mat; David Life & Sharon Gannon (Jivamukti Yoga), Marc Holzman (Anusara), Elena Brower (Art of Attention), Kia Miller (Kundalini) Gabrielle Bernstein (Spirit Junkies), Dr. Dan Siegel (MINDSIGHT).

Her passion in the mind led her to therapy and coaching where Salema studied Coaching Psychology at the University of Cambridge. She is now completing her second Undergraduate in Cognitive Psychology and Neuroscience with particular emphasis on Neuropsychology under the direction of Professor Lee De-Wit and The Science and Practice of Mindfulness and it’s Clinical Applications. Salema is also studying The University College London programme ‘The Many Faces of Dementia’ and is an affiliate member of the American Psychological Association. She is a registered Senior teacher and teacher trainer with the Yoga Alliance.

Her mission is to share the connections between Eastern and Western Science in an accessible and inspiring way as a key to regulating emotional balance and raise awareness to cultivating flexibility in the brain, mind and body. In creating The Science of Habits Coaching Programme, along with her Evolutionary Flow classes expect a blend of yoga, psychology and science to explore and understand how the brain resists change. Sessions give a unique insight in how to learn to work according to your brain rather than against it.

Salema writes and speaks about the science of life through various blogs and publications including Psychologies Magazine and Women’s Health and Fitness. She has been involved in teaching and speaking events for Psychologies Magazine, The Secret Yoga Club, Lululemon at The Royal Opera House and The Royal Academy of Art in London. She lectures and presents at various conferences including The Yoga Show and Mind Body Spirit Festival. In addition to teaching and studying she runs a successful Neurobehavioral Coaching and Movement Psychology private practice. Based at the Tri Yoga in Chelsea and Cam Yoga in Cambridge, she is delighted to return to Breeze.

David Pearce

David completed his 200 hour teacher training with The Yoga People in Ashtanga Vinyasa and Rocket, then furthered this with a 50 hour Advanced Rocket training with David Kyle. After understanding the benefits of balancing his Yang Yoga practice and discovering the power of the softer side of Yoga, he completed his 100 hour Yin training, again with The Yoga People.

Laughter and smiles are encouraged in David’s classes, yet he invites students to challenge their limits, with the intention of letting the body and mind fly!  David currently teaches in several well known central London studios where he teaches and presents regular workshops.  We look forward to welcoming David to the existing Breeze team of inspirational teachers.

Chris Edwards

Chris Edwards

Chris takes a very playful and inquisitive approach to class, drawing from a variety of disciplines that inform his own personal practice. During his time as a professional dance student, Chris developed an interest in experiential movement and physical problem solving. Upon graduating, Chris began applying these interests to physical and mental conditioning, creating the foundational research for Connected Flow.

His continued investigation into a variety disciplines, from yoga, somatics and meditation to contemporary dance and parkour, started off as a support network for his artistic projects but ultimately drove Chris towards developing his research further. Whilst taking a break from his artistic career, Connected Flow was established early 2016, as a vehicle for presenting his personal practice in a class setting. Having had a strong interest in teaching for many years, Chris has taught workshops for a variety of institutions both here in the UK and in Europe.

With a focus on attention to detail, coupled with a calm and playful manner, Chris' classes challenge participants whilst inviting them to truly explore and expand upon their own physical and mental experiences.

Hsin Huang

Hsin Huang

Hsin is not only yoga a teacher but also a counsellor and Reiki Master. She had been practicing yoga in various styles on and off for 10 years until she met her yoga teacher Bridget Woods-Kramer, who inspired her to practice yoga in a different way and become a yoga teacher.

Breath and intention are very important elements in Hsin’s class because she believes the first thing yoga does for us is to purify our body and mind through the breath; intention is the true self- expression through the physical body.  She encourages her students to move their body mindfully, observing what is happening here and now. Through regular practice, students not only increase awareness but also move from body awareness to energy awareness.

Hsin is grateful to all her teachers. With her heart-oriented approach to yoga, combined with an understanding of alignment, pranayama, meditation and philosophy, Hsin’s hope is to inspire and empower students to remember the true teacher within.

CAROLYN SMITH

Carolyn was first drawn to yoga in 2009 when she had suffered the effects of an ongoing injury following years of sporting endeavours. Having been a competitive sportsperson during her growing up years,  Carolyn’s initial love of yoga came from wanting to try the most challenging poses.  She soon discovered that yoga began to give her something more than the physical exercise - it started to challenge the mind as well as the body.

After taking her first yoga class at Breeze, she was inspired to pass this passion on to other people.  In October 2011 she completed her first 200 hour Foundation Teacher Training with Ana Forrest. It was during this training that she realised the potential of what yoga can truly offer, with the body’s ability to heal, strengthen, and transform, by challenging her perception of what she can achieve by making new discoveries about herself - enabling her to take what she learned on the mat into her life.

Carolyn's classes are nurturing but strong, with a particular emphasis on alignment and healing the body. She loves to teach students of all levels how to work with their body as it is "right now", rather than where they want it to be, encouraging all her participants to feel empowered.

DIANA FIELD

Diana has been teaching Hatha Yoga for over 10 years. She believes ‘If you can breathe you can do yoga'. Her approach is from a position of safety, enjoying taking postures apart and linking movements with breath, flexibility, balance and strength.

Her pre-natal yoga class provides a positive, empowering experience to women. She encourages free movement and adapts postures to suit everyone.  Diane teaches breath techniques which make even the most challenging situation possible.

GERRARD MARTIN

Gerrard Martin is a Yoga Alliance UK certified teacher. He gained his initial yoga experience from his professional dance training at De Montfort University and The Northern School of Dance and was so intrigued that he started practicing in the Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Kundalini and vinyasa yoga.

He went on to study with Abby Hoffman on her Embodied Dance Pro 60 course, which explores the connection with yoga and dance, after which he began his 200 hour teacher training at the Freestyle Yoga Project with Mark Freeth and Anna Robertshaw, whose mission-statement is:  

'Dynamic, challenging, vinyasa-orientated, The Freestyle Yoga Project, is geared towards encouraging teachers and students to think for themselves, and investigate what’s going on over the side of their particular yogic box'.

This philosophy, as well as his dance training, informs Gerrard’s teaching. He provides students with classes that offer challenge and a safe space in which to unburden insecurities and physical blockages.

Sessions include a combination of yoga and movement /dance to aid physical aptitude and gain a better insight into the connection between body and mind. Gerrard uses vocal percussion and music in his classes, as he has an interested in singing/chanting.

Gerrard has led yoga workshops for the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, the University of Northampton and has taught at the Mind Body Therapy Centre. He has performed in ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Ballet Black’. He has also danced for The National Theatre, has toured internationally with the ‘English National Opera’, and has performed at the Royal Opera House.

SUZY BAIN

Suzy Bain is a bright, passionate and skilled yoga teacher who has been in the teaching industry for over 20 years, in her role as a well-known hairdresser and Educator for Hob Salons Camden. In this role, Suzy has been part of London and Paris fashion weeks for many years as well as working in music videos and print work for Vogue and Harper's bizarre.

Starting yoga to counteract this busy lifestyle, Suzy studied with renowned teachers Ana Forest and Claire Missingham, also taking classes with Kristi Johnson and Jambo Truong regularly. In 2015 she decided to take the step to do her yoga teacher training with Claire Missingham. She completed the rigorous training with OUTSTANDING. 

Suzy’s motto is to do something that scares you with pride and enthusiasm. For instance, five months after having a baby she ran the London Marathon, learning from it that you can do anything you put your mind to.

In Suzy’s class you will experience her uplifting smile, positive message and a fun, vibrant practice that challenges physically and spiritually. Her brightness and fantastic ability enthuse students to deepen their practice. She is currently mentored by Claire Missingham.

DAVID MICHEL

David was first introduced to yoga as part of his professional Dance training, experimenting with many different styles. In 2011 he qualified as a yoga instructor under the ‘It’s Yoga International’ Ashtanga Yoga system, taught by Jamie Blowers.  David began teaching immediately, full of passion, inspiration and enthusiasm to share his love of yoga. David’s classes are dynamic and playful with a natural flow, built to guide students towards more confidence, a stronger physicality and a more open and stress free mind. His contemporary interpretation of  traditional practice provides a high energy class which is accessible to all.

David has also completed Rocket Yoga Training in Thailand with ‘The Yoga People’. This system was created by Larry Shultz, designed to bring the fun of advanced poses to all levels. In his classes David, loves to introduce the Rocket Yoga philosophy of ‘flying’ in practice, effectively breaking down a variety of inversions of arm balances within the system.

LAURA WATFORD

Laura graduated from Bird College of Performing Arts in 2000 gaining a National Diploma in Dance and Musical Theatre and ISTD teaching qualifications. After dancing professionally throughout the world she furthered her teaching qualifications obtaining her Certificate of Dance Education and became a Licentiate of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance.

Laura worked at The Brit School for 10 years teaching their extra curricular dance program and Specialist Pilates for Dancers. She also ran her own Dance School and Performance Company for 8 years.

In 2008 she started to focus her teaching towards Pilates and gained her Level 3 Pilates qualification. She regularly attends courses, classes and workshops to further her knowledge and understanding of Pilates.

Laura is passionate about Pilates and its many wonderful benefits. She displays great compassion as a teacher and knows how to challenge, motivate and enlighten whomever she is teaching.

WAILING MAN

Wai-Ling’s teaching practice draws on her Chinese Buddhist heritage and a simple desire to improve the lives of others.

Originally trained in Thai Yoga, a flowing Yin style principally aimed at increasing flexibility and opening up the body, Wai-Ling has further developed her teaching practice by training in Akhanda Yoga; a holistic style based on Hatha that draws upon the rich diversity of the yoga tradition.

Wai-Ling favours a tactile approach to teaching (she is trained in Indian Head Massage and Reiki Level 1), hands-on adjustments being a key component of her teaching style.

Wai-Ling's classes are inclusive and for all levels and are structured around a quiet spirituality and a sense of warmth and fun. She considers atmosphere, mood and music essential to practice.

Always seeking to challenge and support, Wai-Ling warmly welcomes the experienced and the inexperienced alike to her classes.

ZOE KNOTT

Zoe has practised yoga for 30 years with many different teachers from a variety of traditions. She uses a combination of these styles in her own teaching. However one of the key areas of her teaching comes from a point of safety and Zoe has developed a style of working with strength in asana to protect the body from stress.

A Teacher Trainer (Diploma Course Tutor) for the Wheel, Zoe has also taken the additional BWY modules in Pranayama and Pregnancy and gives In Service Training around Great Britain.

TRACEY EDWARDS

Tracey has been an instructor in the fitness industry for over 18 years, having started as a Group Exercise Instructor teaching energetic and high impact classes. Her career led her into studio management where she looked after a team of equally energetic instructors, and oversaw the programming of 200+ classes per week.

When Breeze opened its doors in September 2009, it provided Tracey with the perfect opportunity to take time out, do something for herself, and rehabilitate some of the injuries sustained throughout the years of jumping around! Since discovering yoga as another way to improve strength and flexibility, maintain fitness, detox and improve her metabolism, Tracey has not looked back.

Tracey qualified as a hot yoga teacher can now be found on the mat at the front of the studio, combining her previous fitness knowledge with her passion and enthusiasm for yoga and it’s many benefits.

TANYA ADOLPHO

Tanya has worked in the fitness industry as an instructor, coordinator and educator for the approximately 20 years, working with various age groups along the way. Over the last 10 years she has gained her teacher training status, as well as her level 3 yoga qualifications. Children love her energy, enthusiasm and creativity which are key ingredients to a good children’s class.

SUSAN SMITH

After a series of illnesses resulting in collapsed lungs Susan embarked on a journey of healing that eventually led her to teacher training with the British Wheel of Yoga - a five year course that extensively covers anatomy and physiology, philosophy and pranyama (loosely known as breath control).

Susan particularly enjoys teaching newcomers and 3rd age generation adults.  She says ‘I love working with beginners it’s really rewarding to watch people grow as they develop confidence working in the postures. It’s a real pleasure to witness people finding inner peace as they learn the art of relaxation. Over time I watch people change shape, develop strength, flexibility and an inner radiance’.

Susan’s style is gentle, yet challenging and she draws on her work as a Psychotherapist to incorporate stress management tools and techniques into her classes, encouraging students to take control of their minds, emotions and bodies.

As a teacher of over 15 years Susan feels she is still learning and growing and regularly attends other classes and workshops to develop her knowledge, attitude and skills.

In the early nineties Susan trained with the Brahma Kumaris (Raj yoga ) and has been teaching meditation ever since. Sue has also qualified as a Reiki Master in the Usui Method.

SARAH BROWN

Sarah splits her time between the buzz of London and rural Yorkshire. She enjoys the balance and variety this gives her and the challenge of travelling between two locations.

After completing a BSc honours degree in psychology she then trained as a primary school teacher. Sarah taught for 12 years and enjoyed introducing children to health and fitness.

Sarah is a former Latin American and Ballroom dancer and she competed in the UK and abroad for many years. She also took training in ballet, tap and modern when she attended The BRIT Performing Arts and Technology School.

Sarah has been in the fitness industry for over 10 years. She is a qualified Zumba, spin and boxing teacher as well as a personal trainer. She strives to make all her classes fun and energising.

She began to discover yoga during a stressful time in her life. Sarah found she loved the feeling of her body gently opening up and found that the meditative effects had a positive impact on her well-being. She was able to think more clearly, had many less injuries and had much more energy. Sarah then wanted to pass these benefits on to others.

Initially travelling to Mexico to attend an intensive yoga teacher training programme she has since immersed herself in other trainings. These include Hot Power Yoga, Yin Yoga and she is a qualified Reiki healer.

Sarah primarily teaches vinyasa flow and also yin/restorative yoga. She focuses on alignment and allowing people to find the safest expression of their movement. OZLEM DOGAN

Ozlem’s journey into yoga began when she practiced her very first hot yoga class in London. This discovery encouraged her to explore other styles of yoga. After several years of regular practice she embarked on the teacher-training program with Fierce Grace Yoga led by Michele Pernetta, who continues to inspire her. In addition to this she is also a qualified Hatha Yoga teacher, having completed the course in Rishikesh, India, under the guidance of Dr Jintendra Das. 

Ozlem, encourages her students to listen to their bodies with focus on breathing and alignment; her classes are calm, friendly and suitable for practitioners of all levels.

She continues to embrace the healing powers of yoga and likes to spread the notion that yoga is not merely about touching your toes but about rehabilitating and being kind to yourself and others. Ozlem believes yoga  is about letting go, slowing down and recognizing beauty in simple things.

MERIEL ANGHARAD

Meriel has been studying yoga for over 13 years.  Initially coming to yoga for a need to stretch after working out at the gym, she soon discovered the depth to yoga and the initial physical benefits were overtaken with immense psychological and spiritual benefits.  Not only did she calm down, learn to breathe properly and release anxiety but also found a great sense of self acceptance.

For 12 years Meriel also studied extensively Body Psychotherapy as part of her own self development in life and is now working with Shamanic principles, all of which has given her a deep understanding of the energy body.  Meriel believes we can hold onto emotional trauma, resulting in stagnant energy, reflecting into the physical body as tightness and unease, mindful of this, her knowledge is incorporated into her class and Meriel enjoys taking students on a therapeutic journey deep into their bodies.

Meriel teaches a wide range of styles ranging from an intense Vinyasa flow to a very deep guided meditation Yin class.  What is always apparent is her understanding of not only the physical but also the energy body, encouraging students to breathe into themselves, explore what is being held in their bodies and to then release.  Meriel sees yoga as a way to heal, to let go and to come into a place of acceptance.  The class space is always held and respected as a place for healing and Meriel encourages students to self enquire whilst in this space.  Using hands on assists to help students move deeper into their process is key to her teaching style. She looks forward to seeing you on the mat.
