Sport and Remedial Massage
Sport and Remedial Massage is the treatment of muscles, ligaments and tendons (soft tissues) using specific bodywork skills which include general and deep tissue massage techniques, soft tissue release and manipulation, neuro-muscular techniques and facilitated stretching.
Athletes of all abilities benefit because a treatment focuses on muscle recovery rate after training and/or competing.
Non-athletes benefit because a treatment also focuses on repetitive strain injuries caused by functional, emotional or postural problems, which in turn create muscle compensations.
Whats in a Treatment?
Initially a consultation, followed by a physical assessment of the problem area if required. General massage techniques soften muscles and allow the body to accept deeper tissue work. Every treatment is specific to the individuals needs and an appropriate exercise prescription can be put together, mindful that yoga and pilates can play an important role in accelerating recovery.
